This is so true!! :)

You Feel Nurturing Toward Your Family
You get along with everyone in your family, and you tend to play the peacemaker. You can see issues from all sides.

You feel like your family is prone to too many arguments and instability. You never feel like things can be completely peaceful.

When times get difficult, you are able to be the adult in your family. You are able to keep your family together.

You have trouble keeping up with your family member's birthdays and anniversaries. You are often late with your gifts.

Thought I would share a few more...

This was me thinking it would be so easy to take a picture of the kids with Blue and Lady. It was like having the kids pictures done back when they were both still little! Enjoy!

Our Traditions..

Sandra over at http://familycorner.blogspot.com/2008/12/from-rain-to-sun-shine.html asked that we share our Christmas traditions so here's ours.

Our tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving. Most of the time I already have some gifts bought and wrapped to put under there.

Our Christmas going starts this Sat. at the in-laws. We will have dinner and visit then open gifts. This started a few years ago before we did do it Christmas day and with sil living 2 hours away it was hard on her kids. So we do it the Sat. before Christmas now.

Then Sunday the kids, mil, sil, her kids and I will go to church. After church the kids and I will go to my Mamaw's house for our Christmas with my mom's side. Not really sure why she changed it this year.. we normally do it Christmas Eve afternoon. Also Sunday night the church is doing the candle light service... again not sure why this was moved from Christmas Eve night.

Up until my Mamaw that raised me went into a nursing home, we did Christmas with dad's side of the family Dec. 23rd. But that stopped in 2004. Hard to believe this will be her 2nd Christmas gone.

Christmas Eve night the kids, hubby and I go to my mom's for dinner, visiting and opening gifts. We stay till time to get the kids home and ready for bed. Santa comes that night with all his gifts unwrapped and put together... he's good that way. ;)

Christmas morning around 6:00 am the kids could and wake us up. We get up and they show us what Santa brought. Then we open gifts from under the tree. Once we are done we find something to eat and the kids play with their things the rest of the day. At some point both sets of grandparents stop and see what the kids got. It's so nice not to have to go anywhere Christmas Day.

Care to share yours? I would love to read them all.

Gotta love the weather...

the 2nd grade had a field trip to the Imax today. Had being the key word here. North Arkansas got hit with freezing rain and Central Arkansas got much of the same. Seeing that the trip was in Central Arkansas the trip was canceled until farther notice. The girl was not pleased by this news. I am glad they didn't try to take a bus on the overpasses. I am thinking of picking her up a bit early and taking her to lunch.

I have a few

so I thought I would tell you all about the big shopping day. As soon as I dropped the kids off at school we headed out. I had a few stops in Little Rock I needed to make so we went to Academy for the things I needed in there. I also needed to run into the mall for an ornament with all of our names on it. (Dd was very upset when she was putting the tree together b/c we had an ornament with hubby, me and the boy on it dated 1996. She wanted to know why she wasn't on there. So now we have one with all 4 of us with 2008 on it.) After those stops we went on to Conway. We met up with my sil there and started our shop til you drop day. We hit Kohl's, Shoe Carnival, T J Maxx, Belk's, Target, Payless and then we decided to take a break and eat lunch. After eating at The Market Place we went back to shopping. We started at Best Buy, Home Depot, Kirkland's, Old Navy and ended the day at Hallmark. The best thing was after I got home and went to Cabalas.com to get 2 things for hubby I was D O N E!!!!! :)

Since the kids stayed at my mom's for the night I got everything wrapped and under the tree. Saturday morning the girl had a Christmas party at Church so I went and got her and took her to that. Today the kids, my mil and I got up and went to Church and then drove to Conway for my niece's 4th birthday party.

As soon as we left my sil's house the girl said she didn't feel so good. About 30 minutes later she was throwing up. She has been doing so every 30 minutes or so since. Looks like she will get a few days off from school... she has a dentist appointment Tuesday for some cavities and 2 teeth are going to be pulled. Fun days are ahead of me. ;) I need to run and check on her again. Till then.

14 years and going...

is how long the hubby and I have been married. Hubby was in the Army and his sister, her husband and I drove to Georgia to pick him up for the Thanksgiving holiday and our wedding. We got home the morning of Thanksgiving and spent the day between his family and mine. The next day we got married at 7:00 pm and hubby was on a plane around 4:00 pm the next day back to Georgia.

Also one year ago hubby and I were baptized. Neither a day we will ever forget. I feel very blessed to have a loving man that supports his family 100%.

Is it Thanksgiving break yet?

Is it just me or what? I am so ready for a school break. Not just because I have been working there alot either. I am ready for a few days with the kids without worrying about homework, tests, going to bed early and everything else that comes with school nights. I just want to hang out and do nothing. I am ready to drag the tree down and watch the kids hang the ornaments on it. Hubby went and bought Wal-mart out of lights last year so he will be busy putting those on the house. I am even thinking about braving Black Friday this year.

Right now all I am braving is my pain. I did a boo boo and forgot to take my preventative meds for my migraines twice and I am still paying dearly for it. I think I finally got the headache gone, now I just have to work the tightness out of my neck and shoulders. It just amazes me how 2 days of no meds has turned my world upside down again. I am going on day 6 and my neck isn't showing any improvement. :(

I am working the next 5 days before our break. 4 of those being 2nd grade. I will let you know how it goes.

Reba Rocks!!!

Tonight was the Reba and Kelly Clarkson concert. My bff Susan and I had a great time. It was our first concert together and I see many more to come.

Oh and how come I am just finding Reba's show that is no longer on TV? I caught it on the other night. So funny! I am now DVRing it every time it comes on. I LOVE me some Barbara Jean! Do you know she's even funnier in person?! Yes, she was the opening for Ms. Reba and Ms. Kelly.

I also found out tonight that tickets for Brad Paisley go on sale this coming Sat.! :)

Next week will be my first time in the Elem. school since I went back to working this year. I am looking forward to it... I will be in 1st grade and then in 2nd grade. They are still so sweet at this age. :)

Why?

I can't for the life of me understand how a person can attack someone so badly and then leave them to die. How can you break almost every bone in ones face and it be called a robbery. Isn't that to personal for a robbery?

Anne Pressly was a beautiful woman. No I didn't "know" her personal but when you see someone on the tv screen almost everyday you might as while "know" them. Her smile brightened my day. You couldn't watch her and be in a bad mood. She was contagious... in a good way. I will truly miss her when I turn on the news.

I am sad, angry, confused, numb and praying to God the person that is responsible for this will be caught. Another beautiful life gone far to soon.

In loving memory

Anne Pressly

I made it through!

I did as I promised and was good for my party. Matter of fact I was the last one standing. I even cleaned my floors, the kitchen and did laundry before I went to bed. I had a really great time and I never hugged the toilet. :)

I sure would like to know how many readers I have. I would love to feel extra special today. I wonder how many people I can get to post a comment... come on don't make me cry on my birthday Internet!

Adult tutoring

Monday night the boys math teacher offered parent tutoring for us smart 7th grade parents. I went and I really think I am more confused than before I went lol. She would show an example and I would think OK, but then she would show another and I was like oh no wait how did that happen?! The only thing I did understand was when she said "they can do the work which ever way is easiest for them"... really, cool now when I do know how to do something I can do it my way and see if old school is easier for him to understand math. I know old school math... sometimes. ;) We are meeting again next Monday.

I can't believe it!

Do I have any CSI fans out there? OMG!! That's all that comes to mind on the season premiere.

I worked Jr. and Sr. High School today. I was 2 different teachers today. The one in the morning went OK but one class got loud and just as I was yelling for them to get quiet the teacher walked in. You should have seen their faces when they seen him. After lunch I went to my next room. The first class I had in there got SUPER loud and the teacher next door opened the door and ripped them a new one. You could have heard a pin drop both times. My last class was most of the same students from the first loud bunch. I threaten lives if they got loud on me again. They must believe me b/c they were quiet as mice.

Tomorrow I am working again. I pray she left them enough work. I will only have Sr. High tomorrow... yeah me!

Are we the only ones?

Hubby and I don't see eye to eye on the choices we have for President. I myself don't vote red or blue... I vote for the one I believe in. Not how I was raised but I sometimes don't agree and or like that choice. You know what I mean?! Hubby on the other hand is blue all the way BUT he doesn't vote. I won't even go there right now.

I thought I knew who I was voting for but after watching tonight I am not so sure anymore. I guess I will watch on the 15th and see where I stand. I hate being on the fence this close too!

So how about you? What about your other half? How do you handle this?

Homecoming Week!

This week has been different for us. This was the first time the boy got to do the dress up week for the High School. Mon. was Costume Day, Tues. was Sports Day , Wed. was Blast from the past day, Thurs. was homecoming shirts and crazy hair day and today was black and white day (school colors).

Mon. the boy went as a Hunter... so did every other boy in the school lol. Tues. he wore his Yankees jersey and I wore my Hogs shirt since I worked. Wed. he went from the 80's with a Motley Crue shirt and stonewashed jeans. I tried to get him to tight roll them but when I showed him what I was talking about he went all 2008 on me... like whatever!! Thurs. he wore his homecoming shirt but wouldn't do the crazy hair thing. Today he wore his school shirt... on the way to school he wondered about painting his face half white and half black. Didn't have anything up my a$$ to pull that one off so he didn't get that done. Gee son next year let me know the day before or even better whenever you find out when black and white day is.

Thurs. afternoon the Jr. and Sr. High played games against each other to see which class rules. The Seniors are big fat cheaters!! 7th grade has some learning to do... they should beat next years 7th grade lol. ;) As we were waiting on the hula hoop game to start we hear over the loud speaker... "there's a fight in the stands, can someone break them up".

Tonight as I sit here writing I am really waiting for the Homecoming dance to be over with so I can go pick up my boy and come home and go to sleep. Only 53 more mins. to go.

Girls' night out!

Friday night was a girl's night out for me. Both my sil's and some friends got together at a local country bar. My oldest sil's birthday was Sat. and the other sil's birthday was 2 Sat. before. We really had a great time drinking and dancing. I learned a few new line dances... yeah me! I also tried some new drinks. I had fun with hubby yesterday telling me what I had tried. I did a shot called "Blow job" which was very good lol. We didn't get home till after 2:00 in the morning and I can't wait till next years Girls' Night Out!!

I'm calling in dead tomorrow

I have been in the 7th and 8th grade for the last 2 days. Yesterday was awesome today not so much.

Of course yesterday was spent watching Num3ers... I just started watching this last year. The teacher has seasons 1-3 so I got in 7 shows from season 1 lol. Can I just say I LOVE that teacher?! So a note to all you teachers out in blogland... movies/tv dvds are a subs best friend. :)

Today could have been so bad b/c I feel very bad myself. I have a sore throat, runny nose and a low grade fever. Oh and the teacher needed me to run copies for my 7th graders and the stupid copy machine gave me fits my whole conference period. The students were much louder today than yesterday. Being that it's a small school I had the same students but different subjects.

It's a good thing...

I like dying my hair. That boy of mine is going to turn me gray way before my time. 4 week reports come out Tuesday. We have been STRESSING how important grades are and that they are coming out soon. Does the boy hear us? Who knows. Does the boy care? Not really! I found out today he hasn't been doing homework... really people who does homework?! His math teacher took pity on him and gave him the chance to get half credit if he would do it over the weekend. Me being to dumb ass said OK he will get that to you Monday. Yes people I did.

It took 3 hours to do 4 pages of math with him. I told him it would be done today or we wouldn't go to the football game tonight. What was I thinking? Really my nerves were shot by the time we were finished. We did it but it's a miracle he's alive still! And he wants me to home school him. As if!!!

This S U C K S!!!!!!!!!!

I am at a loss. My son hates school, has since day 1. He's in his room doing homework right now. I am here trying not to loose it. He's not doing as well as I know he can and I don't know how to make him want too.

My heart breaks b/c he just made the comment that he wants to be home schooled or to just drop out. I dropped out of 10th grade for very stupid reasons and I have been dreading the day that became a subject I had to share with my kid/s. I WANT my kids to finish school.

I sit here and I am struggling to help him with his homework. I don't think it's from dropping out, but how the hell do I know.

HELP ME!!!

He's Coming!!!

I was listening to the radio the other morning and heard that Brad Paisley's coming in January. I can't wait for the tickets to go on sell. I would sell my first born for a ticket (not really but maybe the hubby lol). It's not that I want to rush Christmas or anything but I am so looking forward to January now!

TGIF!!!!

I subbed for the same teacher again today. Today went much better. As 3rd period rolled around I was dreading the little &^*%(%). As the kids came in I am watching and waiting, b/c I made up my mind last night I would NOT have another day like yesterday, but no little &*(^*&%&*)%) walks through my door. Was it my lucky day?! Yes, no, maybe?! No, of course not he came in really late! OMG he was a different kid today! I was very thankful not to have to give him d-hall or send him to the office. Or both!

As my conference time was coming up I was asked to cover a math class. Yea just what I wanted a 7th grade class... but then I remembered it was my 7th grader. When I walked into the room I see they are watching tv. I go in and sit down and see they are not only watching tv but they are watching Numbers. So for one period today I got paid to sit on my butt and watch Numbers one of my favorite shows. Now I will never dread that teachers class lol.

So anyway I am off here the laundry's calling and I need to catch up on blogs. :)

High School

I was a High School teacher today. It was a pretty laid back day until 3rd period! OMG one boy was a total ^&*%(^&%&!!! And then he wonders why no girls like him?! Whatever boy you are so not all that and your attitude SUCKS!! Anyway after ^&*(&+^&*^ left the rest of the day was fine. My 8th period was the best ever lol that could be b/c I only had 3 in class.

Did you see them?

The MTV music awards? I was so not impressed with the guy they chose to host them. He just wasn't funny to me and what did the Jonas Brothers do to him? What did you think?

I am happy for Brittany Spears. She looked very good tonight. I hope she keeps it up and gets her life back in order. Call me crazy but I like her song "Piece of Me".

Kid Rock was as good on there as when I seen him in concert. See I'm not all country lol. My bff and I are going to see Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire soon... it will be our first concert together!

Never would have thought

that when I got the cell phone bill that it would be hubby that went over his texting package. He didn't just go over a little bit no he went over 317! That's only $31.70 extra. Really honey you are 32 do you really need a blocker on your phone like the boy has?!

First

The boy went to his first school dance. He had a girl meeting him there... he bought her ticket. He wouldn't let me take their picture together because they aren't going out or anything. What was I thinking?! I did get his picture and he smiled. It was my lucky day. ;)

Rain closing

The kids are out of school today. The buses couldn't get down some of our country roads do to flooding and fallen trees. Gotta love that. My only wish is I had known before waking my kids.

Jr. High

I was reading another blog http://theredneckmommy.com/ last night about 7th grade. The mom was remembering what it was like back then and I started remembering what I was doing back then too.

The summer before 7th grade started I was "dating" a boy a grade older than me. That summer I got my first real kiss. We held hands at the mall almost every Friday night. I said my first "I love you". He gave me a ring and I thought we would last forever. Lol how things quickly change when you both start different schools.

Once in the 7th grade I met another boy. We kissed and held hands a few times. He was ALWAYS grounded so we didn't go to the mall. We didn't last long. After him there were a few crushes but nothing much more.

At the end of that year I started talking to another older guy. Once again I thought it was ever lasting love... oh how wrong I was. That summer we seen each other as much as possible, at the mall, the pool, a friends sister's house. That summer my life changed more than I every thought it would. Come to find out he thought once my bff has sex for the first time I was next. Yes I was so stupid and young that I let him talk me into something I knew little about. At the time I thought I was in love and it was the only way to keep him. Sicken isn't it?!

Now that I am a mom to a 7th grader I feel sick to think back. I try so hard to be more open with him about things than my grandparents were with me. I let him know his dad and I are here for him and he can tell us anything. I hope he listens and doesn't make those mistakes I did so young. Don't get me wrong I know he will make mistakes and that's part of life. I just hope sex is something he waits for.

I am sure you have noticed I put a playlist here. The songs I put there each have a meaning and I would like to share them with you.

Rascal Flatts' Fast Cars and Freedom ~ Is the song hubby says reminds him of us.

Jamie O'Neal's Somebody's Hero ~ Is one that I see in my mind of my grandma and me.

Trace Adkins's Then They Do ~ Reminds me just how fast my kids are growing up.

Kelly Clarkson's Because of You ~ This one has parts from my childhood feelings.

Kenny Chesney's Where You Be Today ~ Is for my two cousins gone way to soon. Miss You Blake and Bradley!

Reba McEntire's You're Gonna Be ~ Is for both my kids!!

Billy Currington's Walk a Little Straighter ~ Parts of it for my parents.

Brad Paisley's Letter to Me ~ Has many things that hit home with me.

Brooks and Dunn's Proud of the House We Built ~ Of course that's me and hubby. We meet when I was 16.

Rodney Atkins' Cleaning This Gun ~ Will be hubby one day all to soon! ;)

Martina McBride's Blessed ~ Is how I feel about my life, most days.

Trace Adkins' Your Gonna Miss This ~ Would be for my 12 year old boy.

Kelly Pickler's I Wonder ~ Again my parents.

Rascal Flatts' Bless the Broken Road ~ Once again hubby and I.

Jimmy Wayne's I Love You This Much ~ Would be more about my dad but also my mom.

Billy Ray Cyrus's Ready, Set, Don't Go ~ The kids!

Joe Nichols' I'll Wait For You ~ For my one and only!!

I hope you enjoy them as much I as do.

Sneaky one

We ended up just staying home yesterday. I had another nasty headache. :(

Last night before going to bed the boy came and handed me a slip. I looked at it and seen it was a 7:30 am Dhall slip. Damn already! You notice when the slip was shown to me... right at the last minute after a long weekend. Crap we have a smart sneaky one. This is his free one, next time he will lose something valuable.

Long weekend :)

Thank God the kids have an extra day to goof off this weekend. Nothing but summer beats a long weekend.

Saturday we spent the day with the grandparents. First my mom and step dad. Didn't really do anything but visit. After that we went where the in laws were camping out. The sil's, one sil's hubby, 1 niece, 1 nephew and a boyfriend were there also. It was fil's bday so we had a cookout followed by homemade ice cream. Once we got home it was way past dark and time for bed, of course after baths.

Sunday we stayed around the house and visited with the hubby/daddy while he was home. He came in very late last night and left around 2:00 this afternoon. Holiday weekends are really rough on the railroad guys.

Monday is open for whatever we choose to do. The pool is having a Labor Day thing but not sure if that's what we are doing yet or not. The boy doesn't want to but he changes his mind like I change... oh never mind you get the picture.

sucks

Hubby got in the yard off the train around 3:00 this afternoon. When he got to his truck he found the driver side window busted out. His door is messed up, the face of his radio is gone, his shotgun gone, and the ignition screwed up. It's an older truck (87 model) that he has put lots of time and money into. What truly sucks is if the damage is over $1000 bucks the insurance wants to total it. We have to get some estimates before we know anything for sure but hubby has to go back to work tomorrow, so it will be next week before that happens.

The railroad life/wife

Hubby got in last night around 8:30. He came in grabbed something to eat then went to bed. This morning he decided not to spend the morning with me but instead go fishing. Sucks he only caught 3 fish in 5 hours too. Anyway he came in grabbed a bite and took a nap. When the kids got home he got up to visit. I made dinner and while we were eating the phone rang. It was work calling him. He left at 6:00. Not even 24 hours together. So that's the life of the railroad.

1 week down

many more to go. The boy had a good first week in 7th grade. His high points were getting two cokes for one, getting to eat off the sandwich line or the regular line, having a locker and he got a 90% on a quiz.

The girl really likes 2nd grade. She is the top dog on the playground this year. She loves her teacher. It's been rough getting her up in the mornings tho. So her new bedtime is between 7 and 7:30. She really needs her beauty rest. I see now she needs 12 hours of sleep.

Well I am gone to be lazy with the kids.

Can you hear me now?!

I have to know what my child heard me say this morning? Ds likes to ride the bus, you know b/c having mommy drop you off at school is so uncool. So anyway this morning as he's walking out the door I yell "don't forget your lunch money". "Ok mom I won't". Then he comes back in for something and I say again "don't forget your lunch money". "Mom I'm not". Guess what he forgot... his freakin lunch money. So to help him out with the coolness I stopped on the highway and gave it to the principal, all while still in my pj's! ;)

School stuff

Well I did much better than I thought I would Monday morning. Still hard to believe he's in the 7th grade and all. He's doing fine over in the High School. Wasn't crazy about PE and the idea of dressing out. Lord do I remember those days. I am so glad my school days are over lol. Today the coke machine gave him 2 drinks for the price of 1 so he was thrilled.

The baby started 2nd grade. Now for all to know she is so much like her momma it's not funny. Many of you know I am so a night owl and she's followed in my foot steps. So Monday morning when I get up at 6:20 to get her lunch ready and shower and found her waiting for me I was shocked. She greets me with a Good Morning and the biggest grin ever. Yesterday after school she gets in the van and says "well we had to do work today" like all the works gone after 1st grade.

As for me I am waiting by the phone for the school to call me to sub. My bff works at the High School and said they had to call someone Tues. and Wed. so who knows when I will get the 1st call. I think taking the year off last year kinda hurt me. Oh well they will need to sooner or later.
